PLEASE NOTE: The Puketawa & Slip Tracks are open! Trees are being felled on Dillons Road.
BEFORE YOU WALK, it is essential that you text or phone to let us know you’re walking our tracks -Michélé 0212113332 (no need to wait for a reply -just go ahead & enjoy it).
Bookings are not required for the Puketawa Track or Slip Track, but you must phone or test Michélé on 021 2113332 to let he know you’re intending to do the walk. You don’t have to wait for a reply & will only receive one if numbers of walkers are too high or the track has to suddenly close for any reason. If you wish to bring a group & bring a dog with you or extend the walk to the Maori Pau on the top, please contact Michélé (details below).
Charge: A donation or Koha (suggested minimum of $5 per person) for entrance to both tracks. This is not obligatory but is very welcome. It will enable us to continue to keep our tracks open to the public & continue with the conservation work.
For all enquiries & bookings: phone Michélé: (06) 3843328 or 0212113332 or enquire at the Raetihi (06 3854805) or Ohakune I-site (06 3858427) Visitor Centres .
If you can do the Tongariro Crossing you can do this! Walkers undertake this track at entirely their own risk. No camping, fires or dogs (without talking to Michélé first.)
